Abstract

The current study aims to achieve a very important goal, which is to know the effectiveness of a program based on evidence-based practices in reducing the stereotypical behavior of children with autism spectrum disorder. Evidence-based practices and their impact on reducing stereotypical behavior of children with autism spectrum disorder have been in day care centers in the Asir region, Saudi Arabia. The research community consists of children with autism spectrum disorder in Rooh Alisrar’s Day Care Center, which consists of three children with an increase in stereotyped behavior affecting their lives. In this study, the researcher has used the single-research design approach (A-B-A), which consists of a baseline, then intervention, then withdrawal and follow-up. Evidence-based practices, represented by several practices, namely differential reinforcement, amortization, technology-assisted education and intervention, and overcorrection have been applied in order to reduce stereotypical behavior such as throwing things, unresponsiveness, and anger in children with autism spectrum disorder. The results have revealed that there is a positive and effective impact of applying evidence-based practices in reducing stereotypical behavior among children with autism spectrum disorder. The researcher has recommended that there be the necessity of applying evidence-based practices in schools and day care centers.
