Abstract

This research aims at activating the role of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s technical education in catering the requirements of the labour market in light of the Kingdom’s vision 2030.  The research also aims to identify the status of the technical education system in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, discovering the challenges that face the technical education institutions in the Kingdom, and identifying the requirements of the Saudi labour market in the light of Vision 2030.

The researcher has used the descriptive analytical method due to its suitability to the nature of the research and its objectives. The research’s tool was a questionnaire, distributed to a sample that consisted of (110) of all leaders and members of the training staff and the administrative staff of the Colleges of Technology in Bisha.

Using SPSS program in the statistical analysis and treatment of the results, the researcher has reached several results, the most notable of which are: that the axis of the status of technical education in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was “medium” with a mean of (3.39), the axis of challenges facing technical education in the Kingdom was “Large” with a mean of  (3.58), and the axis of the requirements for activating technical education in the light of the Kingdom’s vision 2030 was “very large” with a mean of (4.23).

The results also have showed that there are no statistically significant differences at the indicative level (0.05=µ) of the average responses of the sample individuals around all the research axes attributable to a variable (type of establishment, job title, qualification, number of years of experience and number of training courses attended). There are statistically significant differences at the indicative level (0.05=µ) of the average responses of the sample due to the variable of the number of years of experience in favour of the "under 5" category and the variable of the number of courses attended in favour of the "under 3" category.

The researcher  has also suggested a vision, based on the results of the theoretical framework and field research to contribute to activating the technical education’s role in meeting the requirements of the labour market in the light of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, by developing the philosophy of the proposed vision and its objectives, the foundations on which it is based, its requirements and strategies, implementation mechanisms and obstacles, and ways of overcoming implementation constraints.

The researcher has also recommended a number of recommendations, the most notable of which are: the need to expand educational patterns, building a partnership between the labour market and technical education. The Technical and Vocational Training Corporation shall provide financial support to colleges of technology, including training, development and improvement of education to be in line with the requirements of the labour market in light of the Kingdom’s vision 2030, and the need to benefit from the experience of the advanced countries in the field of technical education.
