Mamdouh Bin Turky Bin Mohammed Al Qahtani

Abstract

This research deals with the book "the syntax of the seven recitations and their explanations" by Abu Abdullah Al Hussein Bin Ahmed Bin Khalawyah (370-AH), with the investigation of Dr. Abdul Rahman Al Uthaimin, which was published by Al Khanji Library. It criticized the printed version and corrected the errors that occurred in it by contrasting it with handwritten copy, referring to what has happened to it from overlooking, distortion, alteration and errors in diacritization and letter drawing.

The research has been divided into an introduction, preface, seven topics and a conclusion. The first topic: the places of overlooking of the book, the second topic: errors in the Qur’anic verses and recitations, the third topic: the places of alteration and errors in recitations, the fourth topic: the places of error in the diacritization, form and letter drawing, the fifth topic: change of what is in the original, the sixth topic: errors in dealing with the endnotes of the copy, and the seventh topic: errors in the written copy.

One of the results of this research is that this book is one of the first and greatest books on the guidance of recitations. This "edition" had been in circulation for about thirty years and had been photocopied as it was. Furthermore, it is the only edition that relied on a handwritten copy. Consequently, the indication of the inaccuracy that had occurred in it is very important. In the research, I adopted the inductive criticizing technique, by reading the printed text, and indicating the alterations in it, contrasted with the only handwritten copy.
